About me

Nursing will always be my first love. Through this work I discovered a blend of science and poetry, informing me through skilled observation. My career in public health and home health care enabled a secure income and the satisfaction of providing service to others.

Nursing will always be my first love. Through this work I discovered a blend of science and poetry, informing me through skilled observation.

I was curious about pursuing a writing life, and after receiving an MFA in creative writing I taught in the English departments at Ripon College, the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh, and Marian University. After the successful publication of Boomer Girls, a collection of writing from the baby boom generation, I blended my interests and edited two anthologies of writing by nurses. My recent chapbook, Star Boy, comments on being on the receiving end of health care.

The notion of an anthology represents the American idea of including all voices, and many of my individual poems have been included in anthologies.

I’ve enjoyed living in the Pacific Northwest and my return to my native Wisconsin, where I’m inspired by the natural beauty and supported by family.
